Occupational therapists can use the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) to inventory problems experienced by the patient (semi-structured interview) to set goals and evaluate treatment. A description of measurement properties of the COPM for people in geriatric rehabilitation was produced by performing a systematic literature review. Next, a clinimetric study was conducted to gain a better understanding of interrater agreement and reliability in geriatric rehabilitation.
Our goal is to describe measurement properties of the COPM for patients in geriatric rehabilitation.
Part 1: Systematic review of literature on validity, reliability, and responsiveness of COPM scores.
Part 2: Interview study in two nursing homes, Pieter van Foreest and Laurens, where two different OTs administered the COPM on the same patient within 2 to 5 days. We studied interrater agreement and reliability by determining whether patients reported the same five prioritized occupational problems and scores of COPM-Performance and COPM-Satisfaction to different OTs.
