The EU-COGER study is a European observational multicentre study on the treatment and recovery of post-COVID-19 patients in geriatric rehabilitation.
The aims of the EU-COGER study are:
– To gain insight into the recovery of older COVID-19 patients during and after stay at a rehabilitation department.
– To gain insight into the content of post-COVID-19 rehabilitation in various European countries: What treatment strategies are used? Which professionals are involved?
Study results will contribute to improved post-COVID-19 rehabilitation care.
In September 2020 we started recruiting rehabilitation departments for the EU-COGER study and in August 2022 data collection was completed.
More than 60 rehabilitation departments in 10 European countries participated in this study. Participating countries are the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malta, Spain, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
Data was collected at 4 timepoints: at admission, at discharge, at 6 weeks and 6 months after discharge from the rehabilitation department. The follow-up measurements (at 6 weeks and 6 months after discharge) were conducted via telephone. The collected data consisted of measures which are collected as part of regular care in geriatric rehabilitation, e.g., medical history, symptoms, functional status (at admission and after discharge), quality of life, length of stay, etc.
